How to move towards action - the one-on-one conversation and workplace mapping
There are some practices from the labour union that are useful in activism and organizing. In the workshop I can share three of these.
1. How to find issues. Issues are the real world problems that people would like to change. By addressing these issues we can involve people and emancipate them. This helps people to experience that as a collective they can change the world one issue at a time.
2. Six steps of the organizing conversation. Finding issues is best done through a one on one organizing conversation. This has 6 steps. In learning these steps you improve your skills of getting other people engaged.
3. How to involve the less engaged people. Finally we often focus on the most active people. This makes our life rather difficult. So we also have to get people from less engaged to more engaged. An important aspect of this is making a list of people who are less active and approaching them personally through one on one conversations.
Target audience Activists who want to involve more people in their campaigns and building more power. Goals A skill-share through info dumps and practice
