The Soft Spot: Weaving as Resistance & Collective Care

Location Ru Paré

The Soft Spot is a travelling weaving initiative that explores textiles as a political tool, a site of resistance, and a practice of collective care. This drop-in weaving session invites participants to engage in tactile storytelling, slow-making, and shared reflection on labour, land, and solidarity.

At the centre of the workshop is a modular, collaborative loom, part of The Tapestry of the Commons—a growing textile piece woven across Palestine, Jordan, Ireland, Egypt, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. We will work with local and repurposed wool, questioning the extractive logic of global textile industries while engaging with fibre as a material of care and connection.

Weaving is an invitation to hold space together, to reflect on self-care as collective care, and to engage in queer ecofeminist approaches to craft and activism.

All woven contributions will become part of The Tapestry of the Commons, raising questions about ownership, labor, and the politics of shared making.

No weaving experience is needed—just bring yourself.
