The proposal is to open a conversation about tools and practices that enable self-determination and self-organization for mental well-being.
As a brief introduction on antipsychiatry and mad pride, I propose to have a quick look at the life and work of Judi Chamberlin, a pioneer in the field. And then the session would focus on the possibility of supporting each other, in order to face the risk of mental distress and breakdowns.
In order to initiate the conversation, I propose to introduce two tools: crisis plan and support groups. Crisis plan is mostly a tool for self-reflection, which aims to name our psychological states, question ourselves, identify signs, name needs, resources, triggers, etc. And it might be a tool to share with people around us, and a base to build friends/peers based support groups.
Different resources in the forms of zines and posters will be proposed on distribution to support the conversation and extend the reflection afterwards.
