Activist groups experience power imbalances, disagreements and conflicts. How we deal with this influences the quality of our relationships and our capacity to fight. In this workshop we give an introduction to mediation and transformative justice both in theory and practice.
How can we approach conflict, violence & harm in a way that transforms the situation? How can we move past punitive approaches to conflict and disagreement? We are excited to explore these questions with you, inspired by the work of Adrienne Marie Brown, facilitator and mediator extraordinaire.
We will then introduce conflict mediation and zoom in on concrete tools and models. We will host a space where we can learn from the different experiences in the room, and also introduce skills you may want to try out in your own
collectives, communities and relationships. You can expect to talk about ice-bergs, role play some conflict mediation, and reflect in buddy pairs.
NB: this workshop is in English, lasts 2.5 hours, and requires active participation.
