In this workshop we bring together a number of diaspora organizations and solidarity campaigns to discuss how we can strengthen international solidarity from the Netherlands.
While the Palestinian freedom struggle is currently in the spotlight, many groups in the Netherlands are also active in freedom struggles elsewhere in the global South. In this workshop we bring together a number of diaspora organizations and solidarity campaigns to discuss how we can strengthen international solidarity from the Netherlands.
We discuss what the various groups are doing, what means of resistance they use, the problems and dilemmas they face, but also what opportunities there are. Is better cooperation possible? What is the role of the broader social movement and are we addressing it enough? The groups present to share their experiences include: Sudanese Refugees Organization, Jina Collective (action group of Iranian feminists), Gira Holanda (Zapatistas solidarity campaign), Demned (Council of Communities from Kurdistan in the Netherlands). Serda Demir and Iliada Charalambous from Ware Tegenmacht facilitate the discussion.
