Industrial Agriculture is responsible for half of all global greenhouse gas emissions and upholding colonial practices by using it's enormous lobbying power to trap farmers into cycles of debt and dependence. But knowledge is power, and understanding these systems can help us to take direct action to create food autonomy.
Industrial Agriculture is responsible for around half of all global greenhouse gas emissions and upholding colonial practices by using it's enormous lobbying power to trap farmers, especially in the global south, into cycles of debt and dependence.
ASEED's current Fossil Free Agriculture campaign is focused on drawing the links between climate change and industrial agriculture and exploring the many ways that these systems, if left unchecked could drop us, indeed, into a dystopic future. But knowledge is power, and by discussing how agriculture is a social and environmental struggle it is possible to participate in targeted campaigns and practical local action. This is how we can break the power of corporate greed that is currently monopolizing our food systems and create desperately needed food autonomy.
